Thomas Goetz is the man behind the hands-free law in Minnesota and he is now pushing for Wisconsin to do the same. Goetz lost his pregnant daughter in a car accident due to a distracted driver in Stillwater back in 2016 and ever since then has been an advocate to get this law passed.

The law which went into effect on August 1 of this year makes it illegal to use a cell phone or any electronic device behind the wheel. According to WDIO the city of Hudson Wisconsin, which is a tiny town across the river from St. Paul, decided to implement the hands free-law in their town. Goetz is hoping that this action will prompt Wisconsin lawmakers to make the law statewide. If this happens Wisconsin would become the 19th state to have this law.

I really honestly am confused as to why this is not applied nationwide, it seems like common sense just like wearing seatbelts. I am pretty sure that all in good time this will be the case in every state.
