Gabby Barrett brought her powerhouse vocals and undeniable stage presence to the stage of the 2022 CMT Music Awards on Monday night (April 11). She offered a dazzling rendition of her song "Pick Me Up," which originally appeared on the deluxe edition of her Gold-certified album, Goldmine.

One of the last artists to be named as a performer ahead of show day, Barrett didn't reveal which song she planned to perform on the CMT Music Awards stage, hinting only that it was new, and she'd never sung it for a televised performance before.

The former American Idol contestant surprised the audience with "Pick Me Up," a stirring choice during which the slow tempo provided plenty of opportunities for Barrett to show off her impressive vocal stylings.

Barrett finished third on the 16th season of Idol in 2018, going on to sign with Warner Music Nashville off the success of her breakout megahit, "I Hope."

The rising star scored a Female Video of the Year nomination at the 2022 CMTs, thanks to her song "Footprints on the Moon." That song also comes off of Goldmine, as do "I Hope" and the chart-topping follow-up, "The Good Ones."

The 2022 CMT Music Awards aired live from Nashville on CBS and Paramount+. Kelsea Ballerini, Anthony Mackie and Kane Brown co-hosted the show. Brown was a last-minute addition to the in-person hosting lineup; he stepped up after Ballerini received a positive COVID-19 test in the days leading up to the show and had to reconfigure her hosting duties so that she could appear virtually from home.
