Temperatures are officially trending up in the Duluth area, but we have to hit you with one more fun fact about our February cold snap.

If you live in the Northland, you already know how cold it was from the beginning of the month through mid-February. So how long did the cold snap last? We have that answer for you!

Actually, the National Weather Service of Duluth has that answer for you! The NWS of Duluth shared the exact moment our cold snap began and the exact time it ended, which is pretty cool. They shared the statistic on their Twitter account Thursday (February 18th).

According to their report, the very first advisory they issued for wind chill values was on February 5th at 3 a.m. From there, the advisories continued until the very last one ended on February 17th at 9 a.m.

I am so glad that things are looking up! It was definitely a brutally cold first part of the month. In fact, WDIO Meteorologist Brandon Weathers reports that the Duluth area saw eight days with temperatures at twenty below or colder. Yes, it was really that cold.

The good news is that the brutal cold is behind us for now. The Twin Cities branch of the National Weather Service says we can expect a big jump in temperatures as we head into the rest of the month.

Looking even further ahead, it looks like we may also be in for an early spring. Meteorologists at the Weather Channel say we could see spring conditions as early as next month.
