Duluth Named One Of The Most ‘Underrated’ Cities In The U.S.

This is a big win for Duluth! The Zenith City was just named one of the most underrated cities in the country. I have to say, even though we are pretty popular as it is, a little more acknowledgement of just how great Duluth (and Minnesota) is doesn't hurt.

Cheapism did this study, naming a handful of the most overlooked and underrated cities in the country. As they put it, some of those big name cities like New York and Los Angeles get all of the love. It's time to shine some light on the smaller cities that are just as great, no?

The point of the study? Aside from trying to spotlight some lesser-known cities around the country, the study aims to help people find a spot they can spend a full weekend without having to deal with big crowds or those other big city problems.

Duluth is definitely one of those spots! The website gave more insight into just what makes Duluth so great, which are things we already know, of course. Here's what they had to say about why we made the cut;

This gem on Lake Superior in northern Minnesota has tons to offer the active traveler: hiking, mountain biking, and, soon, even ice climbing at a downtown park. Hop on the North Shore Scenic Drive to take in the wilderness and rugged coastline north of town, or head up to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for a true taste of solitude — though you may spot a moose or two.

All of these things are amazing and great things to do in Duluth but they barely scratch the surface! Canal Park, our amazing breweries and great restaurants to try with a view of Lake Superior are also reasons people should come visit. Just saying.

Aside from their blurb about things to do in Duluth, they offered interested tourists a few other ideas for their weekend trip like the Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center and a visit to check out the lift bridge to watch a ship come in.

It's great that the beauty of Duluth is catching on all over the place! There's so much to love about our town. Other cities on the most 'underrated' list, by the way, include Rapid City in South Dakota, San Antonio and Flagstaff.
