New To Duluth Asks ‘Is This Spring Normal?’ + The Answers Are Hilarious
"When people move to Duluth, they think Winter will be the worst, but spring is what actually breaks you." That quote hit the hardest and sums up pretty much the rest of this story, but the other responses are too good to stop here.
New to Duluth asks, is this a normal spring?
A Reddit user posted a harmless question on the Duluth Reddit page asking, "I moved to Duluth in November and was wondering if this is how spring usually is!"
Yep.
While other places just 20 minutes away from Duluth experienced a mild spring weekend with temperatures well into the 60s, near the lake, we didn't even break 40 degrees. It was foggy, soupy, wet, and cold. That's spring!
I loved the replies like: "Spring doesn't start until the 3rd week in May and lasts exactly 3 weeks." "Sometimes it's worse," "This is false spring IV," and "thanks for saying spring, now it's going to snow again."
Everyone expects winter to be bad, but it's spring that will break you.
By far the best quote is from smodden, who does offer a little glimmer of hope.
That is so true. We know November through March is going to be rough, but when April comes around, and it's still snowing, we start to snap.

Fall Makes Up For It In Duluth + Superior
So it's cooler by the lake in the spring, but the lake keeps us a little warmer in the fall. We have longer falls than some other places, and it's also more beautiful. So next time you're screaming at the snow falling in April, remember, we get a nice fall. Maybe that will help. Maybe.
