Duke, Former Dog Mayor Of Northwestern Minnesota Town, Has Died
This is devastating news but what a cool legacy to leave behind. Duke, the former Mayor of Cormorant Village, has passed away.
According to a post on Duke's fan Facebook page, the beloved pup has died. His family shared the news with an emotional post.
The former mayor was a huge part of the community, which is very obvious when you take a look at the comments on the post.
The Great Pyrenees was first elected as mayor in 2014 by write-in vote. Local media outlets in the area report that Duke went on to win four elections at the 'Cormorant Daze' festival, where elections are held every year.
He retired last year due to health issues.
Cormorant Township is a small village located in the Northwestern part of the state. The area's last census revealed a population of just over 1,000 people. It's located in Becker County.
Rest in peace, Duke. You are already missed.
