Minnesota DNR Launches New Modern Licensing System
It's about time! The Minnesota DNR has joined the rest of us in the 21st century with its modern electronic licensing. Starting on June 9, you'll be able to buy a license and store it on your phone. But it's going to take a few days for the rollover, so that gives you a bit of a loophole.
The DNR announced this morning that the licensing system will launch on June 9th. While they are shifting to the new system, you won't be able to buy hunting and fishing licenses from June 2 to June 8. So, the DNR has announced that people may fish without a license in Minnesota.
The new modern system will allow you to still buy a license in person, but now you can purchase the license on an app. You also can purchase a license online. With the older system, even if you purchased a license online, you still needed to print the ticket. Now you can save it as a PDF, as long as you have proof of it.

All the regulations for the fishing season and hunting seasons will remain in effect; you just won't need a license.
Turkey hunters beware: you must register your harvest before the end of June 1st. They will be unable to register their harvest during the transition/cutoff period.
Watercraft and vehicle registration will stay as is for now. Nothing changes until a later date with a new system.
