Dierks Bentley Puts a Country Spin on Adele’s ‘Set Fire to the Rain’
There’s nothing like seeing one of your favorite artists sit down with an acoustic guitar and take part in an unplugged country music jam. Thanks to the resurrection of CMT’s ‘CMT: Unplugged‘ series, country music fans will soon have the chance to see more talented artists play unplugged sets. When Dierks Bentley took his turn this time around, he put on an unforgettable rendition of Adele‘s ‘Set Fire to the Rain.’
“On a big stage, you have to be able to play all the electric instruments live,” Bentley said as he introduced the song. “We kind of raise hell in a live show, but that’s how this one came about. This is us taking up blue grass instruments and taking a current pop hit and seeing what happens when they come together.”
The ’5-1-5-0′ singer proceeded to start sing Adele’s hit song while sitting on a stool, surrounded by quietly seated fans. His band members played fiddles, mandolins and acoustic guitars to back up Bentley as he sang the lyrics in his own sweet, country twang.
Theacoustic series allows CMT to showcase the raw talent of today — and tomorrow’s — country and bluegrass artists. In addition to Bentley’s performance, a number of other major country stars have participated in ‘CMT: Unplugged.’ The roster includes artists like Taylor Swift, Blake Shelton, Trace Adkins, Reba, Zac Brown Band, Jamey Johnson, Jewel, Trisha Yearwood, Billy Currington, Rhonda Vincent, Lee Ann Womack and more.
