DECC Announces Change In Bag Policy To Take Effect June 1
The Duluth Entertainment Convention Center is making changes to its bag policy. The changes will take place beginning June 1, 2023. The DECC recently posted the update to social media and encouraged people to spread the word.
First, the DECC asks you to consider not bringing a bag if you don't need one. Not having bags to check increases entry speed and enhances safety. However, the DECC understands that in some cases, people do need to bring necessary items into events.
Any bags that are brought into the DECC must meet the following requirements:
- Small bags are allowed that don't exceed 4.5" by 6.5"
- Medically necessary bags, including breast pumps
- Diaper bags for individuals/families with a child/children under 3
They ask that if you are bringing a bag that meets those requirements, come early and allow extra time for entry.
Further information on their website explains that all guests will be subject to a search of themselves and their possessions before entering the DECC facilities. People should be prepared to open their bags for inspection. Security reserves the right to confiscate any items that may cause damage to the DECC facilities or cause danger or disruption to an event.
There is no bag check available at the DECC, so best to not bring one if you don't need to.
These rules do not apply to private events, conferences, meetings, or trade shows unless even the host or the DECC enacts the policy.
