Community Action Duluth’s Free Tax Site Opens This Week
It's tax time once again, which means it's time to collect all your forms, receipts, and whatever else you need to get things filed properly and hopefully get a big, fat refund.
Of course, tax time can be a stressful time of the year for people and Community Action Duluth has a great program available to those who qualify.
Community Action Duluth is a terrific organization whose mission is to "empower and engage our community to eliminate poverty."
We believe that through community-coordinated partnerships, people with low incomes can find the support, resources, and relationships that will help them overcome the economic, racial, or cultural barriers that have prevented them from establishing and maintaining self-sufficient and connected lives in our community.
One of their great services is the Community Action Duluth Free Tax Site, which will be open this Thursday, February 2. The Tax Site will offer both virtual and in-person options with assistance from Tax Site staff and volunteers as well as options to file for free on your own.
Community Action Duluth notes the Tax Site would not be possible without dozens of volunteers who share their time and resources with the community. Volunteers are IRS-certified to support community members in preparing and filing their taxes.
The program is funded by IRS VITA, the Minnesota Department of Revenue, Otto Bremer Trust, Duluth Superior Community Area Community Foundation, and other supporters, this program is completely free to individuals and families with an annual income of up to $58,000.
In-person clinics are currently planned for Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4:30 PM and Saturdays at 9:00 AM. Community Action Duluth is located at 2424 W 5th Street, Suite 102. Clinics are subject to change due to staffing availability.
You can stop by Monday - Friday between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm to pick up a packet to fill out before arriving at the clinic. Doing this will help to shorten your wait.
