City Of Superior Shares Veterans Day Holiday Garbage Collection Changes
This is one of those that catches many off-guard. Thursday, November 11, 2021 is Veterans Day. The observance holiday was established to honor those men and women who served our country in the military. As a set holiday, a variety of businesses and government agencies close for the day. Veterans Day is one of those holidays that is recognized by the City of Superior and it comes with changes to office hours and city services.
One of those services that gets changes due to a holiday is garbage collection. There will be no garbage collection on Thursday, November 11 and the city's Municipal Landfill will also be closed to the public. Property owners will need to follow the instructions provided by the city for the week of November 8: "Due to the holiday please place garbage out by 7:00 AM one day early for early pickup....There will be no change to Friday pickup."
Here are the details:
- Monday pickups - will remain as usual.
- Tuesday pickups - property owners should have their garbage out one day in advance (on Monday) in order to accommodate an accelerated/altered schedule.
- Wednesday pickups - property owners should have their garbage out one day in advance (on Tuesday) in order to accommodate an accelerated/altered schedule.
- Thursday pickups - there will be no garbage collection on Thursday due to the Veterans Day holiday. Property owners should have their garbage out one day in advance (on Wednesday) in order to accommodate an accelerated/altered schedule.
- Friday pickups - no change to the usual schedule. However, property owners should anticipate delays.
