City of Duluth Offers Indoor and Outdoor Skate Opportunities For Your Family
Recently the skating rink at Bayfront Festival Park closed for a few days due to the subzero weather conditions. Hopefully the thermometer will cooperate and the rink can remain open. Keep in mind the rink would close if wind chills reach -20 degrees Fahrenheit or if warm weather creates melted puddles on the ice.
The Bayfront Family Center skating rink is unique in the aspect that they have limited equipment available for use like ice skates, snowshoes, sleds, and cross country skis. The warming house isn't the only thing that will keep you toasty. On Friday nights they build fires and offer free hot chocolate. They have outdoor music and you can even sit back with the family and make memories roasting marshmallows by the fires.
The City of Duluth knows you're busy so they offer several days and hours for you and your family to enjoy at Bayfront Festival Park at 350 Harbor Drive, Duluth. Weekdays 4-8 pm, Saturdays 1-8 pm, Sundays 1-5 pm.
If you're looking for indoor skating you might want to consider Essentia Health Duluth Heritage Sports Center, 120 N 30th Ave W, Duluth. According to their website calendar they offer open ice skating on Wednesdays from 6:30-8p and a couple of Friday afternoons 1:30-3:30p. It varies so you may want to check their calendar before you go.
