You probably have heard by now that many people are leaving California in search of somewhere new, due in part to the high cost of living in the state, among many other factors.

In fact, earlier this year, a study revealed that California was one of the states where the most people were moving from to Minnesota. Only neighboring states, like Wisconsin and South Dakota, had more people headed our way.

There is definitely a big difference between California and Minnesota. While I love California, I couldn't live there, even though they get sunshine most of the year!

It's so expensive, it takes forever to get anywhere and the taxes are high. While we have a lower cost of living in Minnesota and less traffic, Californians still might be in for a little bit of a rude awakening.

There's No In-N-Out Burger

The California staple isn't available in Minnesota and probably never will be. We do have some great food options but if you're used a California lifestyle, those other options just won't cut it.

You're Not Escaping High Taxes

While Minnesota does have a lower cost of living than California, we also have one of the highest income tax rates in the country so don't expect too much of a change.

A Different Kind Of Driving

We do get traffic in Minnesota of course, although it's nothing compared to California. However, they will have to get used to a new type of driving: winter driving!

Four Seasons Compared To One

We will get to winter in a minute but putting that season aside, Minnesota is known for having all four seasons. California really only has one, so even spring or fall could throw Californians for a loop at first.
