Brett Eldredge and Meghan Trainor Sing ‘Baby, It’s Cold Outside’ [LISTEN]
Brett Eldredge's Christmas album, Glow, will be available everywhere Oct. 28. In the meantime, the country singer has released the first track: "Baby, It's Cold Outside," a duet with Meghan Trainor.
The duet is a jazzy, sultry take on the classic Christmas give-and-take. Eldredge and Trainor banter back and forth while a full band -- featuring horns and strings -- performs behind them.
Their version of the song has a big band feel, and that's on purpose: Eldredge has said that he wants to be pay homage to a particular type of vocalist on this album.
“I recorded those classics in New York City and tried to give a tip of the hat to the ones that came before me — Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Ray Charles — by adding that swing and that soul to the best of my ability,” he says in a press release.
While the song is the only duet on the album, it does give us a glimpse of what Eldredge is trying to do with Glow: namely, showcasing his vocals on classic Christmas songs. He'll be tackling a lot of the standards on Glow, with "I'll Be Home For Christmas" and "Silent Night" included on the track listing.
Glow will be available everywhere on Oct. 28 and is available for pre-order on iTunes and Amazon now. Eldredge is currently on tour with Keith Urban through November.
