BREAKING: Truck Careens Through Neighborhood + Crashes Into Home In Superior
A scary situation happened Thursday afternoon in Superior. A pickup truck was traveling south on Catlin Avenue when the driver lost control of the vehicle, nearly hitting several houses over the course of a couple of blocks before finally colliding with a home.
It happened sometime after 2 pm on Thursday, July 13. I happened to be in the area and I spoke with eyewitnesses about what happened.
The blue truck was driving south on Catlin Avenue and went off the road near Wade Bowl Park. Tire marks could be seen in the ditch along the road.
One of the homeowners said their entire house shook when the truck hit the sidewalk in front of his house.
It then came out of the ditch and went airborne briefly on 13th Street and Catlin Avenue, taking out the street sign.
It then crossed Catlin Avenue, forcing another car to go off the road. The truck then crashed into a home.
Eyewitnesses say that there were two people in the vehicle, a grandfather and his granddaughter. It appears that the grandfather was driving, and the girl was heard telling police that "Grandpa fell asleep." The driver was taken by ambulance but was on his feet after the crash.

A Superior police motorcycle, squad car, and Wisconsin State Trooper were on the scene. The Superior Fire Department also responded.
This could have been much worse as there are multiple garage and yard sales in the neighborhood. Just a half block from the crash, there was a group of people in the front yard.
