Blake Shelton on That ‘Karma’ Tweet: ‘People Are Way Off the Mark’
On Wednesday (April 25), Blake Shelton sent out a tweet that sent the internet into a frenzy: Amid rumors that his ex-wife, Miranda Lambert, began a relationship with Turnpike Troubadors frontman Evan Felker while they both were in relationships with other people, Shelton tweeted, "Been taking the high road for a long time ... I almost gave up. But I can finally see something on the horizon up there!! Wait!! Could it be?! Yep!! It’s karma!!"
Naturally, many (many) people speculated that Shelton's vague tweet was about Lambert ... but now, the singer says that people are jumping to the wrong conclusion.
"People are way off the mark," Shelton tells ET's Sophie Schillaci. "But I don't have time to worry about it."
While Shelton admits that he doesn't exactly "love" the response to his tweet, he does find the speculation "funny."
"If it was meant for people to know exactly what it meant, it wouldn't have been so cryptic," Shelton says. "But I can tell you it's been, actually, very entertaining to watch the world run with it and assume what they think it's about."
After four years of marriage, Lambert and Shelton divorced in July of 2015. Later that year, Shelton revealed that he and also-recently-divorced pop star Gwen Stefani were dating; the two are still together. Lambert, meanwhile, confirmed her relationship with Anderson East in January of 2016.
Although neither Lambert nor East has officially confirmed it, the two reportedly split up in February; both have unfollowed each other on Instagram, and they have not been spotted together in recent months. Numerous sources report that, around that same time, Lambert began seeing Felker, whose band toured with Lambert earlier this year and who filed for divorce from his wife Staci in mid-February. The Felkers had been married since September of 2016; according to documents obtained by Taste of Country, Staci Felker filed her own divorce documents on Feb. 28, citing "irreconcilable incompatibility which has completely destroyed the legitimate aims of the marriage and rendered its continuation impossible."
Neither Lambert nor Felker has commented on the matter. The Turnpike Troubadours will be touring with Lambert and Little Big Town later this year, on the Bandwagon Tour.
