President-elect Joe Biden has announced a Transition COVID-19 Advisory Board. The announcement was made Monday, November 9 on the Biden-Harris website. The board consists of 13 health experts. One of those is Dr. Michael Osterholm from the University of Minnesota.

The board is being led by co chairs Dr. David Kessler, Dr. Vivek Murthy, and Dr. Marcella Nunez-Smith. All of the members on the board have experience in previous administrations. President-elect Biden explains the role of the advisory board,

“The advisory board will help shape my approach to managing the surge in reported infections; ensuring vaccines are safe, effective, and distributed efficiently, equitably, and free; and protecting at-risk populations.”

Dr. Osterholm full title is Regents Professor, McKnight Presidential Endowed Chair in Public Health and the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the U of M. Osterholm has been on national platforms throughout the pandemic answering questions from news outlets and also updating the public on his podcasts. So far he's had 30 podcasts on the CIDRAP's website at the U of M about the pandemice with the first podcast back on March 24. From early on many of Osterholm's predictions about the pandemic have come true.

Dr. Osterholm appeared on Joe Rogan early in the pandemic to talk about what they knew about COVID-19 at the time, and what was to come. Watching this video again now months later it is eerie to see how correct he was about what we have seen unfold.

Osterholm today was on CNBC talking about joining the board. He also made the comments that we are "entering COVID hell" as we approach the next few months warning that hospitals can become over run and we haven't seen the worst of it.
