Minnesota’s Favorite Pickle Revealed + It’s No Surprise
I love pickles almost as much as I love Top The Tater. I'm a dill pickle kind of guy. Specifically, I prefer the Kosher dill, but any dill is fine with me. For me, a good pickle needs to have a nice firm crunch, a good brine, and it should be COLD!
The top pickle brand by sales volume in the United States is Vlasic pickles. I'm ok with Vlasic pickles. They're fine, but they aren't my favorite. I'm not going to complain about being served Vlasic pickles, but they aren't my "go-to" when shopping for pickles.
There are some regional brands that are really good too. For example, Gedney pickles are called "The Minnesota Pickle." They are Minnesota-based and sell the popular Minnesota State Fair line of Pickles. However, you can't find them just anywhere. I have yet to see one in my local grocery store. According to their website, they do sell them at Cub Foods, Zups, Kowalskis, some Target stores, and others.

Looking at reviews among Pickle brands across Minnesota, it's safe to say that Claussen Pickles are the favorite among Minnesotans. They've won multiple awards and received positive reviews from foodie websites like Food & Wine.
If you want the crunchiest pickles, then Claussen is the best. You won't find them on the shelf with Vlasic and Mt. Olive pickles. They are kept in the refrigerated meat section. The only other national brand that does this is Nathan's Pickles. Those are pretty good too! But I still love my Claussen.
