A familiar face in the Twin Ports is moving on. Alicia Tipcke started at WDIO in 2018. Now, nearly 7 years later, she is announcing her departure.

Alicia Tipcke started at the ABC affiliate WDIO in Duluth as a sports producer in 2018. She then became a multimedia journalist in 2019.

Tipcke, a Stillwater, Minnesota native, moved to Duluth in 2014 to attend St. Scholastica. She earned a degree in History and Communication. During college, she interned with WDSE-WRPT while also working as an assistant to the Athletic Director of Communications at St. Scholastica.

Tipcke eventually was promoted to the Sports Director of WDIO, and also worked as an anchor for the station.

Alicia announced on social media that she would be leaving WDIO, with her last day being August 8th. She says she won't be going far and will share her next steps and plans soon.

For the next few weeks, you can still catch Alicia Tipcke on WDIO. Connect with Alicia, and send her well wishes (or story ideas) at atipcke@wdio.com.

WDIO's sports department also includes Spencer Pierce, who we will presumably be seeing more of with Alicia's departure. He joined WDIO in August 2023 and works as a sports anchor and reporter.
