Alec Baldwin to Host ‘Saturday Night Live’ for Record 17th Time
Alec Baldwin will host Saturday Night Live for a record 17th time in February during an episode that'll (hopefully!) be rife with sketches referencing Donald Trump in the skewering fashion viewers have grown accustomed to seeing from the former 30 Rock actor.
Baldwin -- whose impersonation of former reality star Trump has elicited several angry, childish tweets from the recently sworn in president -- will host the February 11 episode, and Ed Sheeran will serve as the evening's musical guest.
The Beetlejuice actor currently holds the record for most times hosting SNL, but Steve Martin comes in second place, having hosted the show 15 times, according to PEOPLE.
Baldwin's Trump impression quickly became must-see television and remains a weekly staple of the sketch comedy show, but it took some convincing from SNL producer, Lorne Michaels, to get Baldwin to agree to it in the first place.
"When [Michaels] asked me, I said no. I thought, ‘I don’t want do that. I don’t think I can,'” he said during an interview with WNYC’s The Brian Lehrer Show. “But you get lucky, and I think people were ready to take in that version of him, which is so aggressive.”
Tune in to NBC on February 11 at 11:30PM EST to see how far Baldwin and SNL take things with Trump.
