5 Things That Pet Shelters In The Northland Really Need Right Now
The holiday season is upon us and with that comes many opportunities to give back.
I spoke with Sheila Keup, director of the Humane Society Of Douglas County, to get an idea of what shelters in the area need most right now.
- 1
Paper Towels
Keup says paper towels are "like gold" around the shelter. If you are looking for a quick and easy way to donate, this is the perfect item.
- 2
Non-clumping Cat Litter
Shelters go through lots of cat litter so it's not a shock that there is a big need for it right now. Any brand works.
- 3
Rubber Gloves
Latex gloves are used and changed out between each and every animal to maintain cleanliness. Keup says large is the most commonly used size but donations of any size are welcome.
- 4
Food
Purina Kitten Chow is a big need at the Humane Society Of Douglas County. Purina Dog Chow and Regular Cat Chow are also needed.

Trash Bags
Trash bags are another easy and quick way to give back. All sizes are welcome.
