The 8 Best Sledding Hills In The Duluth – Superior Area
Throughout the years I gathered up all the hotspots to go sledding from Duluth to Superior, to even Cloquet.
Growing up in the frozen tundra we call Duluth, I always looked forward to snowfall so I could bring out my sled and find the biggest hill to have some fun. If you go to any of these hills this winter, you and your children will have a great time. I’ve put in the research and all of my kids loves these hills as well.
A few tips I would recommend while sledding:
- Wear a helmet to prevent injury, lots of trees on these hills
- Sled with the kids and join the fun
- Wear as much waterproof clothing you can and pack extra just in case
Enjoy and happy sledding!
The 8 Best Sledding Hills In The Duluth - Superior Area
Holy Rosary
Located at the Holy Rosary school this hill definitely gets momentum if you're looking for some speed. You also get great views and there's even a playground to play at. Just be aware, this is a private school so as long as you keep the area as you found it, it's a good place for after school hours and the weekend. You can find it at 2802 E 4th St in Duluth.
Ridgeview Golf Course
Any golf course is a good destination for a sledding hill, but there's just something about Ridgeview out in east Duluth that makes sledding magic. Located in the woodland neighborhood at 700 W Redwing St. in Duluth.
UMD's Bagley Nature Center
Also known as a skiing hill, the Nature Center has so many beautiful hills that deserved to be used. Tucked away near the Oakland apartments, there is plenty of hills to sled on (just share a little with the skiers) and you can park in the 'T2' lot, just make sure you bring some change to park.
Pinehurst Park
A prime location centered in the heart of Cloquet is Pinehurst Park. Plenty of hills to choose from and there's even a little fence to stop sledders from going in to the road. So if you live in Cloquet or looking for a little winter road trip, this is the hill to be at. You can find this wonderful place at Pinehurst Park Drive in Cloquet.
Proctor Golf Course
Another one of my faves, located in what I call the weather vortex of the Northland is in Proctor. Just an awesome hill that you can even enjoy at night as there is just enough light to have some late winter fun. You can find it at 26 Al Shoberg Drive in Proctor.
Nemadji Hill
Located on K St off Woodlawn Rd a little behind the Nemadji Golf Course in Superior you will find my favorite hill. Watch out for snowmobiles, but this hill is a ton of fun for the whole family!
Central Park
In the heart of Superior this park is also home to various hills and very little kid friendly as the sledding hills aren't too step or dangerous. So if you're looking for something a little more kid friendly, look no further. You can find this park at 717 6th Avenue East.
Fire Engine Park
Another Superior gem right across the street from the fire station in East End Superior. Here's another nice hill for the younger ones to enjoy. You can this lovely park at 510 26th Ave. E.
Be safe and go out and have some fun!
