Although it may seem like the summer season just started (with our late spring and all), the 4th of July holiday is just around the corner and with it comes the usual changes to the garbage and recycling pickup schedule for residents in Superior. This year the 4th is on Thursday, but the changes will impact most of the week.

Officials with the city are working in advance to get the word out about the alterations to the schedule.  Here are the details:

According to the city's website, the Public Works Department will be closed to observe the holiday on Thursday, July 4.  In addition to the offices at city hall, the Municipal Landfill out on Moccasin Mike Road will also be closed for the day.

As far as the garbage pickup schedule goes, it looks like almost everyone will be affected.  Monday through Thursday routes will run, but be on an accelerated schedule in order to accommodate the day off later in the week.  So to coordinate, the City of Superior is asking everyone to have their garbage receptacle out to the usual spot one day earlier than normal.  There will not be any garbage picked up on Friday.

Recycling in the City of Superior is handled by Hartels-DBJ.  Their schedule for the holiday week shows that it won't change for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday pickups.  The other days of the week will be delayed by one day.  All recycling questions should be directed to Hartels/DBJ directly at 218-729-5446.
