There's a reason Grandma's Marathon is one of the most famous races in the country! It turns out that it just keeps getting better, as this past weekend was a Grandma's Marathon weekend for the record books.

According to Grandma's Marathon organizers, 16,357 runners took part in the weekend races. That includes the William A. Irvin 5K, the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and the full race. Why is this notable? Because that number makes the 2023 event the second-largest race weekend ever.

Yup, it was a record-breaking weekend all around! I took part in my first Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and it was truly one of the best experiences of my life. I learned so much from the experience of actually running the 13.1 myself and I also had a blast, despite the fact that I was a bit sore the next day.

Nobody does it quite like Grandma's Marathon. It was recently named one of the best races in the country and the best race in Minnesota by RaceRaves, which is a website for runners. With the beautiful course and the energy the race weekend brings to the area, it's no wonder it was a record-breaking year.

The race sold out in March and it was one of the fastest sellouts for the full marathon in the history of the race. Whether you ran the full, the 5K or helped to volunteer, you made the weekend one for the record books. Everyone cheering us on along the course also helped make it a weekend to remember.
