The winners in the 2022 CMT Music Awards have begun to be announced, and some of the most popular stars in country music are among the biggest winners.

Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood ended up the night's big winners, taking both Collaborative Video of the Year and the night's top prize, Video of the Year, for their collaboration on "If I Didn't Love You."

Cody Johnson also won two awards, while, incredibly, George Strait ended up taking home his first-ever CMT Music Award on Monday night.

Kane Brown came to the CMT Music Awards as the most nominated artist with four, followed by Kelsea Ballerini and Mickey Guyton, who had three apiece.

This was the first year the CMT Music Awards aired on CBS. The show is also remarkable for being a music video-centric awards show, and for allowing fans to decide each winner. The ACM Awards allowed fans to vote in a single category for most of a decade, but abandoned the idea after several years. It's been fans and fans only for this year's CMT Music Awards.

Brown and Ballerini joined Anthony Mackie to host the show. Ballerini participated from home after testing positive for COVID-19 before the show.
