We are getting very close to the first races in the 2014 Benna Ford Roush Superior Watercross Shootout.  As we get closer to August 16th, I'm getting more and more people asking me about the event and if it's only for die hard racing fans.  The short answer is no, you don't have be a big time racing fan to enjoy this event and for several reasons.

First, as you walk into the gate, the first thing you'll notice is the beautiful setting at Barkers Island. It's just a nice place to be, especially in the summer.

Second, as you watch the snowmobiles racing on the water, you will also hear Ken Hayes and announcers from the IWA tell you the format of the races, who the drivers are and a full explanation of what you're watching.  This makes it not only fun, but informative as you learn about this cool new sport.  One thing to keep in mind is both days of racing offer something unique with different races and, ultimately, a championship on Sunday.

Third, there are plenty of food and drink options.  Enjoy lunch, a snack, ice cream and more, and then wash it down with a soda, Monster Energy Drink, Bud Light, etc.  You, your friends and family won't go hungry or thirsty.

Last, but not least, it's a fun community of people.  Last year the crowd was great and by the second day of racing, new friends had been made.  You will also have the opportunity to meet the racers, something the kids will especially enjoy.

Ultimately, I had a blast last year and not only would I not consider myself a die hard racing fan, but I was actually at the event to work.  If I had fun working the event, you will enjoy yourself as someone who gets to kick back, relax and watch something I bet you'd never see: snowmobiles racing on the water, in August.
