The Minnesota Vikings started the NFL season by making countless mistakes and winning just one of their first five games. Then, the offense cut down on turnovers and the team went on a winning streak.

One of those games took place in Green Bay on Sunday, October 29, and while the Vikings wound up beating the Green Bay Packers 24-10, starting quarterback Kirk Cousins suffered a season-ending Achilles injury.

While they would go on to win the next two games with backup Josh Dobbs to improve to 6-4, more team injuries and poor quarterback play ultimately caught up to them and they limped to a 7-10 finish for the season.

With the season officially over and the Vikings having secured the 11th pick in the next NFL Draft, the big question this offseason is what would the team do at quarterback as the injured Kirk Cousins is now a free agent. Would the team move on from Cousins and look to the draft and/or free agency for their next quarterback?

It didn't take long for Minnesota Vikings General Manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah to tip his hand on what the team would like to do moving forward at the quarterback position.

According to NFL.com, Adofo-Mensah spoke with reporters on Wednesday along with head coach Kevin O'Connell and said that he intends to have Kirk Cousins back with the Minnesota Vikings in 2024:

"Yeah. I think I've been pretty consistent with that," Adofo-Mensah said. "Kirk the player is somebody that, as we saw what he does to this team, I thought we were playing really good football before he got injured, and it's the most important position in sports. Now ultimately it always comes down to can you find an agreement that works for both sides and all those things, but as a player, it's certainly my intention to have him back here."

Of course, those comments don't exactly say an agreement to bring Cousins back has been reached, but it does indicate that the team will make every effort to have him leading the team next season.

You can see the full press conference below, it's at the 11-minute, 30-second mark that Kwesi Adofo-Mensah addresses a question about Kirk Cousins's future with the team.

I think it's smart to try to bring him back as before his injury, Kirk Cousins was playing great football, completing 69.5% of his passes for 2,331 yards, an 18:5 touchdown-to-interception ratio, and a frequent place in the top 10 of NFL.com's QB Index.

If the team can reach an agreement with Cousins, they would still likely look to draft a QB in the upcoming draft, with the hope that he could learn from the veteran and be the team's heir apparent at the quarterback position.
