A student at the College of St. Scholastica shared a video via the Physical Therapy Department's Facebook page showing a massive school of fish under the ice of Lake Superior.
We were recently kayaking on the St. Louis River when I thought about an Asian Carp coming out of the water and slapping me in the face, ewwwww! I was assured that wouldn't happen, at least yet. They haven't made their way up this far, but they're being proactive to make sure they don't and your idea could "net" (get it?) some cash.
It's clearly very tragic that an 11 year-old girl had to have her foot surgically repaired after an encounter with an underwater creature on Island Lake, north of Duluth earlier this week. The graphic visuals of the damage done to this girl's foot are painful to look at, and one can't even imagine having actually been the victim. While it's undeniable that something attacked this girl, one has to
You just never know what videos will go viral. Case in point, a video filmed on a Minnesota lake of a huge muskie snacking on a northern pike has now been viewed over 13 million times, while being shared over 55,000 times. Wanna see it?
This isn't anything ground breaking or to make a big splash about, but I thought it was pretty strange. Our panfish at our cabin have a tendency to nibble at anything. My favorite (and always will be) is the Otters, those little playful honeys! But, my friend Alan White told me the tale that he gets to kiss the sturgeon and THAT I HAD to see.
This is a great video that anyone who fishes should watch. Catch n release is the thing to do when you get a big fish. If you snap photos and take a quick measurement you can always get a replica made of your big fish, but let it go back in the water for someone else to enjoy. However, it's important you handle the fish so you don't hurt it. Pete Maina shares the technique here.
I am not a fish fan, especially Salmon. I wish I was because the way it's describe sometimes makes it sound delicious. Cooked on a wood plank, maple glazed, Teriyaki? I DO like the salmon spread they serve on pita bread at Famous Dave's though...
It's a story that should make everybody want to invest in a fishing boat. A 489 pound bluefish tuna caught off the coast of Japan has just been sold for $1.76 million during an auction at Toyko's Tsukiji fish market.
