Superior Municipal Forest Cross Country Trails are Open for Your Recreational Use

Whether you're a cross country or down hill skier, the weather has cooperated as far as snow.  Although, the temps could accommodate by warming up a bit.  But, it will soon and when it does, the Superior Municipal Forest Trails are open.  There are some things you should know before you go.

The recent snow means cross-country skate skiers are able to begin skiing select trails as they are packed by the Parks & Recreation staff in WI.

According to Mary Morgan, Parks & Recreation Administrator, "We've had enough snow to begin packing the trails so users can enjoy the forest."

However,  the trails will not be groomed on weekends as they were in the past due to two retirements this fall, one unexpected. Once the trails have a proper base of snow, they will be groomed during the week for weekend use.

Please note a pass is required to use the trails. Seasonal ski passes will be sold at the Parks & Recreation office at 1316 North 14th Street from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 or by filling out and depositing the correct fee in the envelopes available at the trailhead (passes will be mailed within a 3-5 day turnaround).

Season pass fees: Youth 15 and younger ski free; City residents age 16 - $25; nonresidents - $30; senior citizen City residents - $20; and nonresident seniors - $25. Daily passes are $5 on site at the Millennium Trail head at North 28th Street and Wyoming Avenue.  Refunds will not be made due to changes in the weather that may reduce the length of the ski season.
