I find it pretty surprising that there's only one place to make the list for our region. Clearly, their data is flawed and they aren't taking the Midwest seriously enough.

Niche came out recently with their 2023 Best Places To Live in America. There are lots of places on both coasts that make the list. Heck, even Missouri towns show up more than Minnesota and Wisconsin towns. Why?

The list is based on data such as crime rates, public schools, cost of living, job opportunities, and local amenities. Niche got the data directly from the U.S. Census, FBI, Bureau of Labor Statistics, and CDC among others.

What do people who live there like about it?

  • Dense suburban feel
  • High rate of home ownership
  • lots of bars, restaurants, and coffee shops
  • lots of parks
  • many young professionals choose to live there

It also scores high on crime and safety, diversity, and is a good place to raise a family.

What do you think? Shouldn't Minnesota and Wisconsin show up in this list more?
