Study Reveals Minnesota’s Five Favorite Christmas Movies
Tis the season for holiday movies morning, noon and night! While I prefer the cheesy romantic Hallmark movies, I also love a classic Christmas movie from time to time. It turns out, we have a few we hold above the rest in Minnesota.

Minnesota Bets put together a list of our top five favorite Christmas movies in the Land Of 10,000 Lakes. They took a list of the forty most popular Christmas movies worldwide and then looked at which of these Minnesotans were searching for most over the past three holiday seasons.
While my personal favorite is Nightmare Before Christmas, it sadly did not make the cut this time around. Maybe people consider it a Halloween movie? Nevertheless, here are the top five holiday movies that we love more than all the others!
Minnesota's Favorite Christmas Movie: #5
A Christmas Story came in at number five! Of course, this is a classic so it's not surprising that it ranked in the top five. However, it's interesting that no newer films have surpassed it by now, considering it came out in 1983.
Minnesota's Favorite Christmas Movie: #4
How is this not number one?! Minnesota's fourth favorite Christmas movie is none other than Elf. If there's one thing we can all agree on in this world, it is this movie.
Minnesota's Favorite Christmas Movie: #3
National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is another classic, coming in third. Like Elf, this movie combines what we love about Christmas with humor. Love i!
Minnesota's Favorite Christmas Movie: #2
Another classic! How The Grinch Stole Christmas just missed the number one slot here with the 2000 version of the film. It is one of Jim Carrey's best roles and the most famous story ever.
Minnesota's Favorite Christmas Movie: #1
Drumroll please! Minnesota's favorite Christmas movie is Home Alone! This is the film that started it all for Macaulay Culkin and he's been a household name ever since. The film came out in 1990 but has stood the test of time. (He just got his star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame!)

Personally, I like all these classics but much prefer those romantic Netflix or Hallmark movies when it comes to Christmas time. There are a million of them to choose from and they all are easy to watch and heartwarming. Maybe our Duluth-made Christmas film Rescuing Christmas will make the list next year!
