The Richard I. Bong Veterans Historical Center will be helping Northland Veterans this holiday season by distributing meals.

The Historical Center says it has just over 1,300 MREs to distribute starting Monday, December 14t. The meals are available to vets who stop by the Historical Center in Superior during regular business hours. They will be handing out the meals until they are all gone.

They will also be collecting donations that will go to the Minnesota Veterans Home in Silver Bay. Items that they are looking for include, gift cards to Amazon, Walmart and Target, puzzles, EZ models, CDs, candy and other treats, and of course cash. You can drop off donations now through December 21st.

“We know there are veterans struggling right now and if we can provide them with a ready made meal, it can go a long way during these winter months,” said Executive Director Dustin Heckman.

The Historical Center secured the food through a partnership with Military Heritage Collection of North Texas, the 96 boxes of meals were picked up in Dallas and delivered to Superior with the help from Halvor Lines. “The folks at Kern and Kompany and Halvor Lines are great supporters of the Center. We appreciate them so much for stepping up and helping to make this happen. It would not have happened without them,” says Heckman.
