Minnesota Woman In Guinness World Records For Longest Fingernails

At first sight, most people would do a double take for sure to see Diana Armstrong's nails which are almost as long as she is tall and just as colorful. Many women and some men too love having really long nails, something I cannot relate to at all. I keep my nails super short at all times or I get annoyed. But Armstrong has a special reason for why she grew out her nails and it was not to break a world record.

The 53-year-old grandmother from Minneapolis said she was not even aware that her nails were that long compared to other people. Case and point when she was contacted by the Guinness World Record Representatives she hung up on them, she thought they were playing with her. After she told her daughter about the call, she was encouraged to call them back which she eventually did.

Her nails all together measure 42 feet, 10 inches long, and take two dozen bottles of polish and 2 days for her grandchildren to do her nails once a year. Like with anything that may not seem like the norm Armstrong said some people stop her and say how beautiful her nails are, but some people make faces when they see her. So she said tends to stay in the house most of the time which is sad. Let people be who they are, she is not hurting anybody!

The reason why her nails are so long is this. Armstrong always had long nails her whole life, and her daughter used to love to paint her nails for her. Unfortunately her daughter passed away at the age of 16 from an asthma attack in her sleep. That was 25 years ago and she can't bear to cut them.

She said to FOX9:

Anytime I thought about cutting them off, it gave me chills like I'm going through that grief all over again. I didn't want to go through that again, so I just kept them. It's like keeping her close to me.

Armstrong went on to say she never expected to be in the Guinness Book Of World Records but ...... "Now since I am, I tell people, you shouldn't judge people because you don't know what people have gone through." Well said Ms. Armstrong, you keep being you and your beautiful self!
