It is spooky season which means we can all obsess about haunted attractions, twelve-foot skeletons from Home Depot and things that go bump in the night.

We have some famously haunted spots right here in the Northland, from the Duluth Depot, where the ghost of a young girl was captured on camera to the possibly-haunted William A. Irvin ship.

We also have some places that might be haunted and we just don't know it yet. Ha! In Minnesota, there are several haunted places you can visit year-round.

Wisconsin is the same in this aspect - but even more so, at least according to a new study naming the most haunted states in America.

moveBuddha created this list and looked at three very spooky factors, including the spook factor. What does that mean here? The number and density of haunted places, how many cemeteries there are, how old the oldest cemetery is and more.

They also considered the creep factor, which in this instance means the number of unsolved murders, abandoned places and UFO sightings. Last but not least, they looked at the BOO Factor, which takes the number of ghost towns and ghost sightings into account.

Wisconsin Named One Of The Most Haunted States In America

This is super surprising! Wisconsin has been named the twelfth most haunted state in America in this new study. What propelled Wisconsin to the top of the list? That would be its 'Boo' score!

Remember in this instance, the 'Boo' score is the number and density of spooky things like ghost sightings and ghost towns. It seems Wisconsin has more of these than most other states, helping it rank in the top fifteen.
