Visit Duluth has been struggling along with so many other businesses and organizations during this pandemic and did not have money in there budget to promote tourism this winter, so they reached out to The Duluth Economic Development Authority  who gave them a life line of $100,000 last week.

This money will be used to promote winter activities in the Twin Ports like Bentleyville, Spirit Mountain and other outdoor recreational activities and events. We all know how vital tourism is to this area with a huge impact across the board.

Anna Tanski the CEO of Visit Duluth said:

This really does support the entire tourism industry. It is an investment that will have an immediate return and a tremendous impact on these small businesses that otherwise do not have the resources to market for themselves.

We have all seen the impact this Summer with many major events canceled because of COVID-19, like Grandmas Marathon and Bluesfest just to name a few and this Fall with The Haunted Ship being canceled and many events including weddings being held at the DECC and sporting events at Amsoil arena.

Hopefully with some of these activities being held outside it will help draw tourists back to the area to try and put a dent in the massive revenue loss since the Pandemic began. Visit Duluth plans on starting their marketing campaign next week.
