This is almost getting embarrassing as yet another Minnesota Vikings player has received an honor this week.

The Minnesota Vikings have announced that Adrian Peterson has been named the FedEx Ground Player of the Week after his performance in the Vikings 30-14 victory at Oakland last Sunday.

Peterson totaled 203 rushing yards on 26 attempts including an 80-yard rushing score to help seal the win. His 80-yard touchdown was the 18th career touchdown of 40+ yards in the regular season, which ties an NFL record (RB Barry Sanders). He also tied an NFL record with his sixth game of 200 or more rushing yards (RB O.J. Simpson).

The six-time Pro Bowler has been honored 15 times as the FedEx Ground Player of the Week, the second most in the award’s history (LaDainian Tomlinson, 18 times). His last award-winning performance came in Week 13 of the 2013 season, when he rushed for 211 yards on 35 carries in a 23-20 overtime victory over Chicago at Mall of America Field.

Peterson currently ranks first in the NFL in rushing with 195 carries for 961 yards and five touchdowns.

It appears a challenge for Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer will be to keep the team grounded and humble as they prepare to face the angry Green Bay Packers on Sunday.  VIkings fans all remember what happened in San Francisco this year when they went in overconfident.
