Vikings Hire Tony Sparano as New Offensive Line Coach
One the biggest problems for the Minnesota Vikings this season was the play of the offensive line. Head coach Mike Zimmer did not renew the contract of offensive line coach Jeff Davidson after the season officially ended for the team, and now his replacement has been named.
NFL.com is reporting that Tony Sparano has been hired as the Vikings new offensive line coach. Sparano has experience with Zimmer when both were assistants in Dallas from 2003-2006.
Sparano spent this season as tight ends coach for the San Francisco 49ers. He was head coach in Miami from 2008-2011 and he also became the Raiders interim head coach in 2014 for 12 games.
I like this hire a lot as it brings another coach onto the staff that has a lot of experience and an old school, no nonsense mentality. Having a coach like this is great, but now the Vikings need to add talent to the line to really make strides next season.
