Vikings Danielle Hunter Named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week
Minnesota Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter was named NFC Defensive Player Of The Week after a dominant performance November 4 against the Detroit Lions.
According to Vikings.com, Hunter set a career-high in sacks with 3.5 while adding 9 tackles, 3 tackles for loss, 4 quarterback pressures and 1 fumble recovery that he returned 32-yards for a touchdown in the 4th quarter that sealed the Vikings victory.
With that performance, Hunter became the first player since at least 1982 to record 9 tackles, 3.5 sacks and a touchdown in a single-game. This all took place in a game where the Vikings defense had a franchise record 10 sacks.
At just 24 years of age, Hunter currently leads the NFL in sacks with 11.5. He was drafted as a talented, but raw prospect. Now, he's worked to become an elite defensive player in the NFL.
He and the rest of the Minnesota Vikings defense will need to keep bringing it as future games include tough to sack quarterbacks like Aaron Rodgers, Tom Brady and Russell Wilson.
