Vikings Choose Not To Exercise 2017 Option On Adrian Peterson’s Contract
Has Adrian Peterson played his last game as a member of the Minnesota Vikings? Today, the Vikings announced they will not will not exercise the 2017 option Peterson's contract. That move means that he will become an unrestricted free agent on Thursday, March 9.
In the team's press release, General Manager Rick Spielman said "Adrian is an important part of the Minnesota Vikings organization,” adding “We will continue to have conversations with his representatives and leave our future options open while determining what is best for both parties moving forward.”
That does leave the door open for Adrian to come back to the Vikings at a lower price, but I don't think that will happen. He has voiced interest in joining teams like Tampa Bay and the New York Giants, among others.
The Green Bay Packers need a running back. Can you imagine if they signed Adrian and then made it to the Super Bowl at US Bank Stadium? It will be interesting to see how this AP saga plays out.
