Viking Seeing High Demand for Mississippi Cruise, Opens More Dates
Last year I reported that Viking was building a new custom cruise ship for Mississippi River cruises and several cruises are already sold out.
The new Viking Mississippi doesn't set sail until August 2022, but despite having never sailed a day, the ship has already sold out several cruises into 2023, so Vikings has decided to open reservations for the 2024 season earlier than anticipated.
Viking Mississippi will sail voyages on the Lower and Upper Mississippi River, between New Orleans and St. Paul on the new custom designed ship that can accommodate 386 guests in 193 staterooms, all with an outside view.
Cruises are offered in two lengths, 8 days and 15 days, the full 15 day trip will take travelers from New Orleans to St. Paul, the other shorter excursions will take passengers from St. Louis to St. Paul, New Orleans to Memphis, Memphis to New Orleans, in December and January the ship will sail around the New Orleans area, starting and ending in the city.
The all-inclusive cruises range in price from $3,999 to $10,999 per person, and several room options are available, but all rooms offer a private veranda or French balcony, king-size bed, large flat-screen TV, mini-bar, heated bathroom floor and 24-hour room service.
Torstein Hagen, Chairman of Viking said in a press release, "As we begin to restart ocean operations this spring, we also look forward to a new chapter in 2022 when we begin sailing our first U.S. river voyages."
