The Coronavirus has thrown many of us for an unexpected loop. Not only are we having to take precautions to keep ourselves healthy but our children as well. For many families with schools being closed temporarily it puts an extra financial burden on them, whether it is from lost wages to kids that rely on the food assistance program at school.

Whatever the reason may be two area restaurants in Duluth are trying to ease that burden by offering a Free Lunch to kids starting tomorrow. According to WDIO Rod Raymond, owner of Fitger's Brewhouse and Burrito Union said “Duluth has a lot of kids that are on free and reduced lunch. As a matter of fact, when I was in school, I was one of those kids, so I know what it’s like,"

Both restaurants will be providing the lunches curbside from 11 AM to 1 PM starting Wednesday and going for the next two weeks, or longer if needed. Fitger's Brewhouse is located at 600 East Superior Street, and they will be providing Macaroni and cheese an orange, and a cookie. Burrito Union which is located at 1332 E 4th Street will offer a taco, either beef or bean and rice, with the same sides.

Raymond went on to say to WDIO "I'm not sure my business is even gonna survive this, and so between now and then, we're gonna go down swinging, we're gonna go down giving, we're gonna go down being stewards of this community, and just show how much we care, and hopefully others are doing the same."

We will keep you updated if other restaurants in the area decide to participate as well.
