Traffic Signal Installed On Grand Ave. Near Duluth's Spirit Mtn.

Get ready to stop. There's a new traffic signal coming for drivers who take Grand Avenue/Highway 23 in Duluth.

As excavation crews continue to make progress on the RiverWest Development, a very noticeable change is about to occur. In order to tie the future development community to Grand Avenue, an entrance road has been installed at Warwick Avenue. That entrance road is about to see operable traffic signals.

Work crews have been on site over the last week installing the utility poles and wiring. Currently, traffic is being diverted during the daytime down to one lane in order to give those installation workers a little room to do their job.

The LED message sign that's placed on site informs drivers to anticipate a "traffic change" starting "May 2".

The RiverWest Development has been in the works for the last couple of years - located right across Grand Avenue from Spirit Mountain, where you can access the Riverside Bar and Grill. According to details on the developers website, they're planning for the site to be "the epicenter of Duluth's outdoor adventure experience".

When completed and installed, the new traffic signals will provide both safety and convenience for drivers. The Riverside Bar and Grill area at Spirit Mountain has become busier over the last few years and once the RiverWest Development is finished, that traffic count is expected to increase.

Developers are planning for a "mix of uses", with "nine development parcels"
That "mix of uses" includes future "housing, retail, lodging, and restaurants"

One of the major selling points that the developers of the site are touting is the fact that "there is not another parcel of this size in Duluth available for development on the river".
