While search crews have been looking since Friday, there is still no sign of a missing plane near Duluth.  Our media partners at The Northlands News Center are reporting that a spokesperson from the Civil Air Patrol confirmed one person was on board a twin-engine Piper, reported to be flying from Fleming Field in South St. Paul to the Duluth airport.

The plane was expected to land back in St. Paul on Friday and when it failed to do so, the search began.  Eight Civil Air Patrol airplanes and 6 ground teams made up of 18 crew members are involved in the search, which focused on areas north of Duluth on Sunday.  About 60 volunteers from the Civil Air Patrol are also working from a base at the Duluth airport.

Areas of interest  in Lake Superior had been searched, but nothing was found and that search is now complete.  The missing plane is a white twin engine Piper PA31 Navaho with red and blue striping.

The Civil Air Patrol asks anyone in Northeastern Minnesota with information to contact Maj. Paul Pieper at (651) 398-4044
