I've been to some pretty majestic parts of Minnesota. We have some stunning views of the North Shore and Lake Superior. We have incredible views from the top of Spirit Mountain, Giants Ridge, Lutsen, and other places. So when I looked up the highest point in Minnesota, I was expecting something absolutely beautiful. Turns out its kind of lame.

Ok, so lame might be a little harsh, but it is a bit of a letdown. The highest point in Minnesota is at the top of Eagle, Mountain in far Northeastern Minnesota. It's in the Boundary Waters Canoe area and Superior National Forest in Cook County, Minnesota.

It's 2,301 feet high. That's as high as Minnesota gets, folks. Nearby Lutsen mountain is 1688 feet and has way cooler views. But still, let's take a look at Eagle Mountain.

If you're going to take the hike up Eagle Mountain, I would suggest looking at the weather and doing it on a clear day. These guys took a hike on a rainy day and said it was a fun hike, but they couldn't see jack.

They enjoyed the hike, but once they got to the actual highest point, it was unremarkable. There are brush, trees, and fog preventing them from seeing any of the terrain. There were a few spots though on the way up, especially the lakeside views that they thought were stunning.

This YouTuber WhereKentWent got some better views on a clearer day.

As he also describes, there are some picturesque viewpoints on the hike up. Those are some pretty good shots.

To get to the top of the mountain it's just over a 3-mile hike. A loop back to the parking lot makes it about 7 miles. This YouTuber Kent was surprised to see so many cars in the parking lot.

In Kent's video, you can see a better understanding of the stunning lakeside views that you get.

He finally reaches the high point where he gets attacked by mosquitos. He was hoping the actual high point was going to have one of those great lookout views, but instead, he calls it "underwhelming." Yep, we've heard that before.

So is it worth visiting Minnesota's highest point? Absolutely it is! The views on the hike are worth it. Just to say you've been to the top is cool, and don't forget all of the stunning views you'll have along the North Shore. It's really the most beautiful part of Minnesota. Be sure to check out the places along the way!
