Target is making a big change later this year - and it might surprise you. It definitely is not what you are thinking. I can almost guarantee it!

Just this week, a huge change was announced for the Minnesota-based business: they will be making a major change to their cereal aisle in a move that is likely to set off a wave of change at other big businesses, too.

This is one of many changes that Target has made as of late. Late last year, they changed one of their employee policies to make the in-store shopping experience a little bit better for customers.

This is another major change but you might not notice it until you roll down the cereal aisle. Your favorite cereal might be no longer!

Target Is Axing Cereals With Synthetic Colors By May Of 2026

The superstore will no longer be carrying cereals with synthetic colors. According to their statement, this will make them one of the first national retailers to do so. This is part of their strategy to continue growing in its next chapter.

The change will be in effect by the end of May. By the end of that month, Target says that 100% of the cereal they sell both in stores and online will be made without certified synthetic colors, which is a super bold move.

Why Target Is Making The Bold Move With Their Cereal Selection

In Target's official statement on the switch, they cite a shift in people prioritizing healthier lifestyles as of late. They also cite data and insights that show a 'long-term shift' towards foods made without things like artificial additives.

This is especially true when it comes to what families buy and give their children. This also falls in line with Target's Good & Gather brand, which came out in 2019, that is free from artificial flavors and such. I always buy that brand!
