We’re a little over a week away from the biggest movie of the summer, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron. In less than ten years, Marvel has built a powerful brand in Hollywood thanks to their great casting, sharp writing, and an ability to distill decades of comic books down to fun, accessible adventures. A big part of that translation process is the look of their movies, and particularly the look of their characters. And that’s all about costumes, which is a particular specialty of Marvel’s. Between Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the rest, they’ve got some sharp-dressed heroes.
Without a great adversary, what good is a superhero? Without someone to punch in the face, Batman would just be some rich schmuck driving around in a weird-looking tank. Without someone on the receiving end of his shield, Captain America would just hang out at the V.F.W. all day. So let’s celebrate the villains. Let’s bring on the bad guys and give them their moment in the sun. With Avengers: Age of Ultron introducing another memorable baddie in the form of James Spader’s titular metallic menace, let’s take some time to run down the 10 greatest superhero movie villains of all time.
I have to admit that even though I know the story of the X-Men, I never really got into the X-Men movies. In fact, I never saw a single one until I caught 'X-Men First Class' on a movie channel.
I did love it which makes the concept of the latest X-Men movie seem very cool to me.
Aliens are creeping back into theaters this week with the release of J.J. Abrams' hotly anticipated 'Super 8,' about a group of kids who captures a mysterious train crash on their video cameras in 1979.
Will this be summer's next big hit? Or are audiences cool on alien-invasion movies?
