It can be very tempting to go down to check out huge waves when they develop on Lake Superior. However, while this storm is raging, that could be a very dangerous idea.
It may be hard to believe that more snow is on the way, but more snow is on the way, probably enough to shovel and plow Tuesday night into Wednesday morning. This is already the 6th snowiest winter on record at the Twin Ports, and this next storm will get us into the Top 5. Lovely!
It appears Mother Nature isn't waiting very long to give us our first winter storm of 2023 and this one will certainly make travel difficult across the Northland.
Has anyone else noticed that when we get notification of hazardous weather in the Northland they aren't using watches and warnings as much? When I started in radio I used my voice to explain the difference between the two. Now they've morphed to other descriptions and I'm not comfortable with them.
You didn't think we'd have rising temperatures without another blast of snow, did you? A President's Day storm is ready to hit the Northland, and the National Weather Service has changed the Winter Weather Advisory to a Winter Storm Warning.
We will see if my gut is correct. I thought our Sunday storm would not be too impressive, but our mid-week storm would pack the winter punch we've been lacking. According our partners at the Northland's News Center, we may be in for some serious weather which could include over a foot of snow. Be careful.
