Although we have yet to experience 2018 Grandma's Marathon weekend, registration dates were released today for the 2019 races.

Grandma's Marathon weekend is coming up June 15 - June 16 and even though they are currently deployed to southwest Asia, the 148th Fighter Wing of the Minnesota National Guard will be participating.

If want to participate in any of the Grandma's Marathon races next year, make sure you're logged on and ready to register at 5:00 p.m. this Sunday, October 1.   Remember, there is no longer lottery in place for the Garry Bjorklund Half Marathon and runners will get in on a first-come, first-served basis. That race could fill up fast.

Grandma's Marathon is just one of the events that puts Duluth on the map.  They are in full swing with their Wednesday Night at the Races at this time.  Running events like that have spurred several 5K races to crop up, mostly as fundraisers for non-profits and due to that we have a huge running community in the Northland.  These are some of my favorites, maybe you have a few different ones, what'

Grandma's Marathon weekend kicks of Friday, June 16 with the William A. Irvin 5K.  Then on Saturday, it's the Gary Bjorklund Half Marathon and Grandma's Marathon.  If you've signed up to run in one of those races, your name is on display at the Miller Hill Mall.

Hopefully you haven't stopped running from this years Grandma's Marathon races, because it's about time to sign up for the 2016 races.

In the fog, the wind and the cold, Grandma’s Marathon weekend kicked off tonight with the William A. Irvin 5K ― the first of three races scheduled for the 38th annual event.

The William A. Irvin 5K is the kick-off to the three Grandma's Marathon foot races.  It is an exciting time for runners and spectators, you can feel the anticipation and excitement in the air.  You can also count on clogged traffic intersections, road closures and minimal parking near the event.  The Duluth Police Department has given us great information that should help to elevate stress Friday

Grandma's Marathon caps the William A. Irvin 5K at 2,000 runners, a 100 runner increase from last year.  Will you be part of the pack?  Besides the Whippersnapper Races, this is the kick-off to Grandma's Marathon weekend.  WAY more than 2,000 people register for a bib number for this race, so mark your calendars for March 13, that's when registration opens for this popular race!
