The last time I was at Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank it was to interview the Executive Director Shaye Moris, about the Back Pack Program. I was amazed at two things. One was the number of area students that rely the backpack program and the other was the incredible dedication of the volunteers that were packing them. That day it was a group representing Essentia Health.
Project Joy is an event organized by a local family in memory of a loved one that helps to fund the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank's Backpack Program. It's a program that ensures some Northland students have food over the weekend. While shooting this video I was moved to tears with what I saw and thinking of these kids who have come to rely on this food donation to last their weekend.
The United Way kicks off their 'Holiday Edition of Day Of Caring' tomorrow in the Northland. This single day event is a "concentrated push" promoting volunteerism in The Northland and will feature volunteers working on 14 different projects.

Talented volunteers gathered this past Saturday to start turning Bayfront Festival Park into the much anticipated Bentleyville Tour of Lights, America's largest free walk through lighting display. It will take several weeks of volunteer hours to put the enchanted wonderment together for thousands to enjoy.
