This is truly a sad situation that once again vandals have struck Bentleyville as crews prepare getting things set up for the Holidays.

If you'd like to get outside and be productive this Wednesday, June 5, the Greater Downtown Council and City of Duluth could use your help.

The Duluth Parks and Recreation department is hosting "Clean and Green" clean up projects beginning April 28th. You can volunteer to help clean up your community.

This Thursday, March 15, the Lake Superior Marine Museum is hosting their annual cleaning day and there is still a great need for volunteers to help.

So, you can't afford Super Bowl Tickets, almost none of us can.  But, there is a way for you to be part of the Super Bowl and make memories you can share with your children and grandchildren someday.  Be a volunteer in a group that will be known as "Crew 52", they're going to need 10,000 volunteers so your odds are pretty good!

The 2017 clean-up in Duluth parks and recreation spaces is about to get underway and the city is looking for individual and group volunteers to help with their 2017 Clean and Green campaign.

My mother passed of Leukemia in 2000 after a month in Essentia enduring chemotherapy. Stem cell replacement was virtually a new treatment of the cancer and that was our hope at that time. The last time I was at Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank it was to interview the Executive Director Shaye Moris, about the Back Pack Program.  I was amazed at two things.   One was the number of area students that rely the backpack program and the other was the incredible dedication of the volunteers that were packing them.  That day it was a group representing Essentia Health.

Project Joy is an event organized by a local family in memory of a loved one that helps to fund the Second Harvest Northern Lakes Food Bank's Backpack Program.  It's a program that ensures some Northland students have food over the weekend.  While shooting this video I was moved to tears with what I saw and thinking of these kids who have come to rely on this food donation to last their weekend. 

The United Way kicks off their 'Holiday Edition of Day Of Caring' tomorrow in the Northland.  This single day event is a "concentrated push" promoting volunteerism in The Northland and will feature volunteers working on 14 different projects.

You don't have to have a green thumb to help "tip the roses" at the Leif Erikson Park Rose Garden in Duluth.  In fact, you could use this as a learning experience. Tipping roses needs to be done when the weather starts to turn cooler.  It helps to protect the plant, almost puts it in a sort of hibernation mode.  Can you help?

Talented volunteers gathered this past Saturday to start turning Bayfront Festival Park into the much anticipated Bentleyville Tour of Lights, America's largest free walk through lighting display.  It will take several weeks of volunteer hours to put the enchanted wonderment together for thousands to enjoy.
