Lots of family fun is in store for this year!

The Lake Superior Ice Festival has a new mascot and voting is now open to give the bear a name.

The Lake Superior Ice Festival returns for another year of frozen fun.

The Lake Superior Ice Festival arrives at Barkers Island in Superior the last weekend in January.  Part of the weekend fun will be the Great Lakes Pond Hockey Classic, which is still welcoming teams, so I decided to join Ken Hayes, Chris Allen and other fellow DJs on the ice for a somewhat friendly game.

Among the multitude of family activities as the 2017 Lake Superior Ice Festival is a 18-foot wide, 250-foot long slide that will be open through the weekend's schedule of events.

One of the many aspects of the 2017 Lake Superior Ice Festival in Superior is a community art project called Orb365. This collaborative display gives individuals and families in the community the opportunity to contribute to a lit ice display that will be seen by hundreds of people as part of this year's festival.

Our Fall was mild and it appeared that winter would never arrive, then seemingly overnight it changed and now we have wind chill advisories and temps in the single digits.  Ice has begun to form and thicken on our area lakes and it's time to start thinking of the fun we can have with what mother nature has provided...

What's better than Hockey played the old-fashioned way, on the ice, in the outdoors. The Great Lakes Pond Hockey Classic is 3 days and nights of outdoor hockey in the Lake Superior Bay right by Barkers Island January 27th through the 29th.
